Heart to Heart of the Southern Tier, Inc. is a non-profit organization that strives to have a positive impact on the lives of local children and families in need. Primarily through the process of providing personalized holiday gifts, Heart to Heart utilizes the generosity of our local community members to enhance the overall well-being of our most precious resource, the children.
Our Story
Heart to Heart was founded in 1997 by JoAnn Clough and Dixie O'Connor with the “adoption” of a single family in need. Since then, this program has provided holiday assistance and other programs and support to over 6,000 local children and their families. All of those served by our program lack the resources to experience the beauty of Christmas; however, the resources we provide are not only toys and clothes they desperately need, but also the feelings of normalcy that comes with having a family holiday, the confidence of feeling good in a new outfit or stories to share with friends when returning to school after winter vacation. The enrichment of the lives of the children and families we serve that comes with our unique personalized approach is what makes Heart to Heart unique.​ Now run by JoAnn Clough, Chelsea Ambrose, Betty Iraggi, and a group of long-term dedicated volunteers, the main branch of Heart to Heart based out Steuben County, NY and serving the Southern Tier has become a staple in the community providing individualized personalized support. We also have a branch serving the Northern Tier of PA run by Jill Boyce and her family. Our program run by 100% volunteers and serves over 400 children each year.
